Mother’s day actually started 150 years ago, when Anna Jarvis, an Appalachian homemaker, organized a day to raise awareness of poor health conditions in her community, a cause she believed would be best advocated by mothers. She called it ” Mother’s Work Day.” Fifteen years later, Julia Ward Howe, a Boston poet, organized a day encouraging mothers to rally for peace. Then eventually, a day out of a year is being picked to commenmorate all mothers. In England, it is called the Mothering Sunday, and it is a different date then the Mother’s Day in Canada, United States and most part of the world.
