Mother’s Day is a holiday that honors mothers, grand-mothers, motherhood in general, for the dedication they give. It is celebrated on various dates in different parts of the world, majority of them are on the second Sunday in May, including Canada, The United States of America, and most parts of Asia. Eastern Europe celebrate it on March 21, France, Sweden, Morocco celebrate Mother’s Day on the last Sunday of May. United Kingdom called it Mothering Sunday. Julia Ward Howe was a pacifist in United States, who first proclaim Mother’s Day in the year 1870. And in 1912, Anna Jarvis trademarked the “second Sunday in May” and “Mother’s Day” and created the “Mother’s Day International Association”.

During the 18^th Century, children will pick wild flowers in the fields as gifts to their mothers. Poems, songs are created as tribute to them as well.

In modern days, flowers are still the most popular gift to mothers, and considered the busiest occasion for florists.
